And... what will it take to get it?

Welcome to
EFT/Tapping

My work has been influenced by a number of techniques and schools of thought, and I still use some hypnosis in my sessions. The tool I primarily use in guiding folks to greater personal freedom is Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) – also commonly known as Tapping. It is a remarkable healing modality based on the same principles that have been used for thousands of years in acupuncture—but without the needles. EFT has been reported successful in thousands of cases covering a huge range of emotional, health and performance issues. It often works where nothing else does.

Best of all, anyone can learn and use EFT in a relatively short amount of time, and achieve great results in relieving stress and other uncomfortable feelings. Experience EFT’s results for yourself – after you read the free basic instructions below, you can perform your first “rounds” of personal tapping in a few minutes. This is only a basic tutorial, and should not be considered a substitute for training or coaching provided by a professional. I encourage you to take advantage of any live opportunity to learn and experience these techniques. EFT is a very flexible process and there are many ways to use it. Beyond using the “Basic Recipe,” what is presented in my work is my own way of doing this process, and at times varies from the work of Gary Craig (founder of EFT) and other practitioners.

You can find testimonials about EFT at the bottom of this page.

What Will it Take to Get it.

If there’s something you want, but can’t seem to get, why not? You’ve no doubt heard it said many times before…

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.

In order to get different results, you need to do different things – or, in some cases, do things differently.

Sounds simple… so why don’t we do this?

Because our minds are designed to resist change.

The ways to get what we want are readily available – the internet is chock full of “how to” sites on pretty much anything you can think of. It’s not a matter of not having the right information… it’s a matter of the information we already have inside that might be getting in our way.

There is a part of us that is committed to staying the same – doing what is familiar – and so we experience stress when we attempt to make changes. It may show up as paralyzing fear that stops us from moving forward, or our non-conscious mind may just subtly distract us and we don’t even realize we’ve been knocked off course until sometime later, when we notice things aren’t getting better.

Self-sabotage is simply misguided self-love.

It’s not because we are bad or stupid – we are simply trying to protect ourselves – based on old programming and, likely, a lot of misunderstandings.

Tapping/EFT – is a simple yet effective tool for clearing stress. (In fact, it may be the simplest and most effective stress-buster there is, outside of pharmaceutical tranquilizers!)

Rather than letting the fear of change stop us, we can tap away the stress and discomfort and give ourselves the freedom to examine what we might be afraid of… and discover that we actually can handle the positive changes.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Rather than being controlled by our feelings, we have the freedom and ability to change our emotional state.
Since at least 80-90% of our behavior is non-conscious – and 80-90% of the choices we make are made emotionally - emotional freedom is the freedom to make better choices.

The freedom to make better choices is the freedom to succeed. And that’s why we tap.

And… yes… admittedly, tapping looks a little silly – at least at first. If your life is already moving along the way you want, and internal resistance isn’t slowing you down, you may decide this isn’t for you. Of course, nothing’s so good that it can’t get better… and the potential benefits of tapping make this strange process more than worth it.

C’mon… give it a try. What have you got to lose…?

Tapping Points

In many of my recordings, you will find that I do not always use the Under the Breast point – and almost never the 9-Gamut process – which are described in the images to the right. While they can be helpful, they are usually not necessary. I also generally start with the Eyebrow Point and end with the Crown Point. I use the same points and basic structure that Gary Craig uses in live workshops, though it may seem different than what is described in his original manual. As you watch different practitioners, you will find folks tapping in different ways, sometimes using different points. EFT is a very flexible tool, and a very forgiving one, so don’t get caught up worrying about which way is right.

Here’s how to do it:

1. The Setup: While continuously tapping the Karate Chop point, repeat this affirmation three times: “Even though I have this ____ (stress, fear, pain, issue with Bob, etc.), I deeply and completely accept myself.”

2. The Sequence: Tap between 5 and 10 times on each of the following energy points while repeating the Reminder Phrase at each point: Crown: “This stress (or whatever the issue may be)., Eyebrow: “This stress.”, Side of eye: “This stress.", Under eye: “This stress.”, Under nose: “This stress.”, Chin: “This stress.”

Now, check in with your body, and see if there is any remaining discomfort—then rate that again on a scale of 0-10. Repeat this process until significant relief is gained – preferably bringing the discomfort down to a zero. It is very likely that you may feel clear about the specific issue you were focusing on, but it may have brought up another issue. In subsequent rounds the Setup affirmation and the Reminder Phrase are adjusted to new wording, if appropriate, or to reflect that you are addressing the remaining problem: “Even though I still have this ______ (issue).”

History of EFT

EFT is a meridian-based energy therapy developed by Gary Craig from the landmark discoveries of Dr. Roger Callahan. It is a simple technique that often provides rapid relief from physical-emotional issues (e.g. Trauma, PTSD, Phobias, Grief, Anger, Guilt, Anxiety, Addictive Cravings, Nightmares, Abandonment, Fear of Public Speaking, Fear of Flying, Love Pain, Depression, Pain, Headaches and much more). What follows is a brief introduction to this remarkable technique.

In 1980 Dr. Callahan was working with a patient, Mary, for an intense water phobia. She suffered from frequent headaches and terrifying nightmares, both of which were related to her fear of water. To seek help, she had been going from therapist to therapist for years….with no material improvement. Dr. Callahan tried to help her by conventional means for a year and a half. He didn’t make much headway either.

Then one day he stepped outside the normal “boundaries” of psychotherapy. Out of curiosity, he had been studying the body’s energy system and decided to tap with his fingertips under her eyes (an end point of the stomach meridian). This was prompted by her complaint of some stomach discomfort.

To his astonishment, she announced immediately that her phobia was gone and she raced down to a nearby swimming pool and began throwing water in her face. No fear. No headaches. It all went away….including the nightmares. And it has never returned. She is totally free of her water phobia. This incident lead to what is called the Discovery Statement:
“The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.”

Dr. Callahan has since refined and expanded his findings to a series of related routines. They encompass nearly every area of emotional improvement imaginable….from phobias to panic disorders to sports performance. And, along the way, he has also applied these techniques to physical problems and addictive cravings with notable success.

EFT is based on all these procedures. Gary Craig, a Stanford- trained engineer, reduced years of diligent research and endless trial and error to one practical procedure that is described above.
